I enjoy the liberating experience of being an artist. There are no rules, only unlimited ideas.
Every medium has its unique and exhilarating properties, like the juiciness of oils or the vibrancy of pigmented wax.
There is also subject matter for paintings everywhere--the beautiful fall sunsets, the brilliant colors of farm fresh vegetables, the grace of a snow skier hurtling downhill, or the smiles on childrens' faces.
At times I create works that are representational because I like solving the puzzle of creating something in two dimensions that does justice to the "real" thing or person. At other times, I just let the medium create the dynamics, and let the emotions or the shapes emerge.
